Using this website
Our website is hosted by Cloudflare. When you visit, Cloudflare handles the technical information that every web request involves, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. It uses this to deliver the site and to protect it from attacks.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not place cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not follow you across other websites. We only see totals, such as how many people looked at a page.
The site links to Google Maps for directions, to our Facebook and LinkedIn pages, and to the Build-A-Bot website. When you follow one of those links, that site's own privacy policy applies. Build-A-Bot bookings are handled on the Build-A-Bot website.
The "Copy email address" button copies our address to your device's clipboard. Nothing is stored or sent to us.
Cookies
This website does not set cookies, and it does not use local storage or similar technology on your device. That is why there is no cookie banner. If this ever changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
If Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor is not an automated bot, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie (such as cf_clearance). Cookies like this are used only for security, not for tracking, and do not need consent.
When you contact us
There are no forms on this site. You can phone us, or email us using the buttons on the home page, which open your own email app with a short message ready to fill in.
An email goes straight to our inbox at tim@woote.co.uk. It will include your email address and anything you write, such as your name, phone number, preferred date, number of guests and any dietary needs. We use it to reply to you, to take and manage bookings, to plan private hire and catering, and to keep a record of what we agreed.
If you phone us, we note what we need for your booking or enquiry. We do not record calls.
Our legal basis is to take steps you have asked for before a booking or order, and then to carry it out. For general questions, it is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
If you tell us about allergies or other health needs, we use that only to prepare your food safely. We rely on your explicit consent, which you give by telling us, and keep it only as long as we need it for your booking or order.
Bookings, events and payments
When you book a table, hire the bistro or order catering, we keep the details we need to provide the service, such as names, dates, numbers, dietary needs and invoices.
If you pay by card, the payment is processed by our card payment provider. We do not see or store your full card number.
We will only send you news or offers if you have asked us to, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only where we need to:
- with service providers who help us run the business, such as our email provider, our website host (Cloudflare) and our card payment provider
- with partners who help deliver an event or catering order, such as a delivery service, where relevant
- with authorities such as food safety inspectors or the police, where the law requires it
Some of these providers may handle information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with your request, and then for up to 12 months. Records we need for tax and accounts, such as invoices, are kept for six years. When we no longer need information, we delete it securely.
We limit access to the people who need it, and we use providers with appropriate security. No system is completely secure, so if you think your information may have been put at risk, please tell us straight away.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- get a copy of the information we hold about you
- have inaccurate information corrected
- have your information deleted, unless we have to keep it by law
- restrict how we use it, or object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
- ask for your information in a portable format
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if the way we handle information changes, and change the date at the top. This notice replaces our previous privacy statement and cookie policy.
